Decided to take a chance on this model in spite of the negative evaluations for it. The size was excellent for our use... road trip with a 1.5 year old. It simply stored a gallon of milk, yogurt packs, orange juice, cheese, grapes, snacks, and so on. Purchased with the AC adapter to provide cooling at night when we stayed in hotels. Worked terrific as expected, though the construction seemed to be a small flimsy and low-cost.
On the 4th or 5th day of use the cooler stopped working consistently. Didn't perform when plugged into a single of our car power ports. Plugged it into yet another one, and it began working once more. Got to the hotel that night, and plugged it into the AC adapter. Once more, it just did not perform, although the adapter was indeed supplying power.
I am not very certain if our concern was the fan (which appears to be a common problem) or the power plug regardless of the result in, this became an extremely pricey non-powered cooler a lot sooner than I'd expected. Returned to Amazon for a refund, and I will probably steer away from this brand in the future.
An additional issue: if you use the AC adapter, the DC plug which connects to the AC adapter get really hot! I truly burned myself on my arm right after unplugging it. It is altogether possible that the heat from the AC adapter may well have damaged the DC automobile plug of the cooler, causing the small spring-loaded center pin to not engage completely in a power port. Whatever the case, this is just poor and potentially unsafe style.
Loved our cooler ideal from the start out. Though we began our trip with a dead battery since we'd plugged it in the night just before. We had countless miles to travel cross nation -Scappoose OR to Atlanta via Nehawka NE and home again. This provided us healthy options to the quick food/truck stop lines. Turkey, avocado sprouts or PBJ at the rest regions. We had been envied to say the least.
Unplugged each and every night and back in every morning, no challenges. When we got into the "hot South" it had a tough time staying below the ambient temp when we had been in and out of the car too a lot. Do you folks East of Kearney NE know that we don't have HUMIDITY out West? Don't know how you all do it! As pioneers, they have to have just given up, thinking it would in no way get better than where they were. So sad. Now don't ya'll move West all at when. This country may well tilt additional left additional than it has this past year or so!
We bought the A/C adapter and kept the 'fridge' in our destination hotel perfectly. We had been pretty the sight moving into the Westin for the week.
It was so good to have a cold drink without the mess of melting ice. Fits nicely on the backseat of the Denali inside simple reach of our 6 yr old 'keeper of the treats'. Wouldn't travel far without this once more.
BTW - I like how it can be a chest or a fridge with the shelf turned. Awesome feature!
